Trimmers with lead screws have a linear wiper path, whereas those with worm gear and planetary gear have a circular path. Multiturn trimmers are ideal for applications requiring precise resistance control. The potentiometer is easy to mount on a PCB and can be adjusted using a screwdriver/tuner.
